About Garden State SCI

A defender of America’s hunting heritage, Safari Club International is a world leader in conservation and advocacy for hunter’s rights, with 150+ local chapters and affiliate networks representing 7.2 million hunters around the world, and more than 100,000 members making a positive contribution to wildlife conservation worldwide.

Until 2024 SCI didn’t have a presence in New Jersey, so a group of dedicated hunters formed a board and founded the Garden State Chapter. The main objectives of the Garden State Chapter are to support hunter’s rights, and to show the local community how important hunters are to land conservation and the preservation of wildlife.

About the Garden State SCI Team:

Bob Newland, President of Garden State SCI
Bob Newland joined the Lehigh Valley Chapter Safari Club International in 2012 after a safari trip to South Africa. Two years later he joined their board of directors, eventually taking over the position of live auction chairman where he was responsible for organizing roughly 140 auction items for their two-day banquet held in March every year.
In 2021, Bob was elected president of the chapter and completed his 3-year term in June of 2024. Conversations with the national organization ensued about there not being a chapter of SCI in Bob’s home state of New Jersey. He made the decision to try to facilitate this and the Garden State Chapter of SCI was chartered in the fall of 2024. Membership has quickly grown to over 100 members, receiving overwhelming support from other outdoor organizations throughout the state, and is well on its way to becoming a powerful force in New Jersey.

Sean Jackson, Chapter Service Specialist for SCI
Sean Jackson is an avid hunter who is passionate about the outdoors and the mission of SCI. In his capacity as Chapter Service Specialist, he helps chapters grow and strengthen their community presence, helping to establish four new chapters in the Eastern region in the last year alone.

Bee Frederick, Eastern States and Local Liaison for SCI
Originally from Montgomery, Alabama, Bee Frederick joined Safari Club International in the Fall of 2021 as the State and Local Liaison for the eastern part of the country. Prior to that, Bee spent seven years as the Southeastern States Director for the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation where he focused on sportsmen’s policy issues, legislative caucus infrastructure and development, and various communications components. Additionally, he previously worked within the public relations sector where he managed strategic communications, media relations, grassroots and coalition engagement, and overall public affairs efforts for several clients. He has also spent time working on Capitol Hill for former U.S. Congressman Spencer Bachus, as the campaign manager for a statewide constitutional amendment reauthorizing Alabama’s public land program, and on various state legislative races in Alabama.

Regina Lennox, Senior Litigation Counsel for SCI
Prior to joining SCI, Regina Lennox was a Staff Attorney for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and a Legal Writing Professor at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. Regina also practiced wildlife law with Conservation Force in Louisiana and litigated complex business disputes with McKee Nelson LLP (now part of Morgan Lewis LLP) in New York. She has now served as Senior Litigation Counsel for SCI since April 2019.
