The Colt 1860 “Army” was an improved version of the earlier 1851 “Navy” pistol that was altered to accept .454 Cal round balls instead of the .375 Cal balls used in the Navy. This pistol was made in 1862, making it the right age to have served in the American Civil War and is in very good condition if that is the case. Mechanically, this pistol appears sound, aside from some minor damages from age and use. The finish has faded to a grey patina, the loading lever has had part of the lock crack off and the sears appear to be shallow but are still holding.
