The Colt Paterson, so named due to it being manufactured in Paterson NJ, was Colt’s first commercially produced revolver and due to the patenting of the mechanism allowed a virtual monopoly until the 1850’s. original examples were produced without loading levers, though late models did include them, with some being added to older guns after the fact. This example is in good overall condition, with all of the finish being faded to a plumb brown and only moderate corrosion in the bore. The action is functional but stiff. Inside the wooden case is the original accessories, including a spare cylinder, which shows more wear than the one installed in the pistol.
