The Iver Johnson Safety Automatic top break revolvers used an innovative transfer bar firing pin, often called the “Hammer-the-Hammer” transfer bar safety, making them comparatively safer than other contemporary designs. This example is in non functional condition, although it is externally in fair to good condition. internally the lockwork appears to be broken in some way, depending upon the orientation, the sear will not engage or the double action trigger will seize. Also, the cylinder catch has worn to the point that the cylinder is no longer retained and will eject itself instead of lift the star. The bore is also in fair condition, with strong rifling but areas of pitting.
