This somewhat ordinary looking .22 training rifle is in fact an interesting slice of military history. Before WW2 the German army, in need of a sufficiently accurate training rifle, commissioned Mauser to design one and to that end, they made a fantastic rifle. This design was good enough that after the war, the French chose to continue building the design with only a few changes in their own Saint-Etienne factory under the name MAS 45. This example is in fantastic condition, with practically no wear aside from the normal handling marks.
