The New Jersey Permit to Carry Course is a comprehensive, hands-on training program designed for individuals seeking to obtain or renew their New Jersey Concealed Carry Permit. Whether you’re a first-time gun owner or an experienced shooter, this course will equip you with the essential skills, knowledge, and confidence to legally and safely carry a firearm in public.
This course goes beyond just meeting the qualification requirements; it focuses on practical, real-world training to ensure you understand not only the legal aspects of concealed carry but also the safe handling, shooting, and tactical considerations needed for responsible carry. Through a combination of classroom instruction and extensive range time, participants will receive both theoretical and practical experience, ensuring they are prepared to handle their firearm in a variety of scenarios.
Course Objectives
Participants will gain skills and knowledge to:
• Understand New Jersey’s laws regarding the possession and carrying of firearms
• Be able to properly carry, handle, and use a firearm in a concealed carry situation
• Learn how to safely and responsibly handle firearms in public places
• Gain confidence in defending themselves if the need arises, within the limits of the law
• General education on “use of force”
Prerequisites
- This is a beginner-level course; however, students must have a basic understanding of their firearm and be able to always demonstrate proper range safety, loading, unloading, and clearing procedures
- Zeroed red-dot (if mounted)
- No prior permit or concealed carry experience required
- Participants must be legally eligible to possess firearms in New Jersey
Requirements
- Handgun suitable for concealed carry (must meet NJ size and safety regulations)
- At least 200 rounds of factory ammunition (no reloads)
- Holster: A, hard framed (will not collapse without the firearm in it), quality concealed carry holster that secures the firearm properly. Strong side or appendix only (no cross-draw, shoulder, ankle or bellyband)
- Magazines: Minimum of 2; recommended 5
- Eye Protection
- Electronic hearing protection.
- Spare batteries for optics or equipment
- Baseball cap
- Note-Taking Gear
- Concealed carry attire – suitable clothing for holster carry
Recommended Equipment
- 5 magazines
- Belt designed for concealed carry
- Speed loaders
$625 per person (plus applicable NJ sales tax). Includes course materials, Nalgene water bottle, lunch, and certificate of completion.
Dress code: no blue jeans, t-shirts or open-toed shoes please.
Cancellation Policy: Must contact us to cancel 10 days prior to class to receive full refund, or 72 hours prior to class to receive a 50% refund (minus credit card processing fees and applicable NJ sales tax). Any cancellations made less than 72 hours before the class date cannot be refunded.
