Rifle & Shotgun Classes

Griffin & Howe has developed two levels of rifle and shotgun classes starting on a monthly schedule.  There is no need to travel out of the Northeast to learn the basic fundamentals or become a competitive precision shooter or hunting enthusiast.

Precision Rifle Level I

August 1st, September 12th, October 3rd and November 7th, 2020 

Griffin & Howe Precision Rifle Level I is for the individual interested in starting a path down the precision rifle shooting sports. It will focus on the fundamentals of precision rifle shooting, the rifle system, and system setup. This program is designed to instill both confidence and efficiency within the precision rifle sports. Whether you’re a hunter, enthusiast, or hoped to participate in rifle competition this course offers a great place to start. As always, safety comes first.

Requirements:

  • Bolt-action or Semi-automatic sporting arm capable of 1 MOA (approximately 1 inch at 100 yards) or better
  • Rifle Scope (MOA or MRAD) with subtended reticle (adjustable turrets highly recommended)
  • Appropriate scope rings or mount
  • Minimum 60 rounds of match grade ammunition (purchased at the same time if possible)
  • Bipod
  • Magazines

Precision Rifle Level II

August 2nd, September 13th, October 4th and November 8th, 2020  

Griffin & Howe Precision Rifle Level II builds directly off of the Level I. There is still a strong focus on the basics, but with a deeper dive into rifle optics, wind calling, ballistics, and various shooting positions. As a student, you will be challenged to make more decisions and dissect the outcome. This will allow you to gain a greater understanding of your ability and push your skill limit to the next level.
 

Requirements:

  • Completion of Precision Rifle Level 1
  • Bolt-action or Semi-automatic sporting arm capable of 1 MOA (approximately 1 inch at 100 yards) or better
  • Rifle Scope (MOA or MRAD) with subtended reticle (adjustable turrets highly recommended)
  • Appropriate scope rings or mount
  • Minimum 100 rounds of match grade ammunition
  • Bipod
  • Magazines
  • Sling

Itinerary for both clinics will be as follows: 
8:30 AM             Arrive at the Shooting Academy
9:00 AM             Class Start time
1:00 PM             Class Ends

                           $425.00 per person; lunch to go is included purchase
                           Maximum of 4 Attendees

Common caliber ammo is available for purchase and should be requested at time of booking.

Intro to Shotgun Shooting Level I

July 2nd, August 6th, September 3rd, October 1st and November 5th, 2020
 

This clinic is recommended for the new or little experience with a shotgun who would like to learn more about shooting Sporting Clays

Clinics will cover:

  • Thorough Firearm Safety briefing
  • Eye Dominance
  • The importance of a proper gun fit
  • Obtaining the correct mount
  • Apply basic shooting fundamentals on appropriate targets on the Sporting Clay Course

Upon completion, we will summarize the day’s activities and provide a brief overview of individual progress and recommendation on proceeding to the next level.

Intermediate to Shotgun Shooting Level II

July 9th, August 13th, September 10th, October 15th and November 12th, 2020 
 

For those with some shooting experience who would like to pursue Sporting Clays as a discipline.


Clinics will cover:

  • Review of the basic fundamentals
  • enhancing the ability to implement them on basic target presentation
  • developing a more consistent gun mount
  • pre-shoot routine
  • Mental preparation for singles, report pairs, and true pair presentations

Upon completion, we will summarize the day’s activities and provide a brief overview of individual progress and recommendation on proceeding to the next level.
 

All clinics will be based on the following schedule:

  • 8:30 AM – Arrive at the Shooting Academy
  • 9:00 AM – Class Start Time
  • 10:00 AM – Proceed to course
  • 12:00 PM – Class ends

$400.00 Per Person.
Cartridges and Clays Additional
Minimum of 2 – Maximum of 8 students with 2 instructors.
Ages 12 and up or Age 10 and up with firearms hunter education card.  All children under the age of 18 must-have parent present during the program.
