Please note: This is an advanced class and not suitable for beginners. Must have attended our holster draw class or provide evidence of attending a similar holster-draw class.
Beginning in the classroom, we will thoroughly review different optics types and mounting options, the application of marksmanship fundamentals with a pistol mounted optic, as well as the advantages and limitations of shooting with a pistol mounted optic.
We will also review each shooter’s individual experience and needs, cover firearm safety and range rules, give a basic overview of shooting stance and proper drawing as well as the ready gun position, and explain the difference in target acquisition between optics and iron sights.
Once on the range, we will go through proper PMO sight-in, dry-firing and learning to acquire the dot, shooting from both a ready position and holster drawing, firing follow-up shots and learning how to manage recoil and reacquiring the dot after recoil.
Each shooter will take part in drills for single hand, dominant hand, and non-dominant hand shooting drills, multiple target engagements, fine-tuning your optic from a distance. We’ll also run drills on multiple target engagements with a PMO, and alternative shooting positions in and around barricades, on the move, and with variable lighting.
We will also cover PMO training techniques for self-training and diagnosis, and end with a competition style shoot to demonstrate how much faster you can shoot with an optic.
Itinerary:
8am - Registration in the Griffin & Howe Showroom
8.30am - Classroom session
9.30am - Move to the range for further instruction and drills
12.30pm - Return to Griffin & Howe Showroom
Requirements:
- Handgun equipped with PMO (semi-auto center fire pistols only)
- 350 rounds of ammunition (can be purchased in the Showroom subject to availability – please request upon booking)
- Optic owner’s manual and any adjustment tools
- 2 magazines maximum
- Holster (OWB – outside waistband)
- Magazine pouch
- Spare batteries for PMO
- Ear and eye protection
- Knee pads (optional)
$325 per person. 50% deposit to be collected upon booking. Any cancellations must be made more than 48 hours in advance to receive full refund.
Dress code: no blue jeans, t-shirts or open-toed shoes please.
