Located on the grounds of Hudson Farm in Andover NJ, Griffin & Howe is only an hour’s drive from Manhattan and 10 minutes from Lake Hopatcong, easily accessible by several nearby major highways, and features a private helipad for guests

Griffin & Howe features a retail showroom and prestigious Shooting Academy, open to the public from 9am - 5pm, 7 days a week. The Academy has an extensive range of shooting facilities which are widely considered to be some of the finest of their kind, and offers shotgun, rifle, handgun, fishing and archery instruction to all ability levels.

Our new 24,000 sq ft. retail showroom features a selection of the finest firearms, clothing, accessories, fly-fishing and bow hunting equipment and much more. Staff are on hand to assist with hunting and fishing licenses, import/export, consignment and purchasing of firearms, lesson bookings and any other help you may need.

Further facilities include a 6000 sq ft. purpose-built gunsmithing department for custom sporting firearm builds and repairs, and our dedicated Crow’s Nest events center available for presentations, meetings and catering.

SHOOTING ACADEMY

We welcome shooters of all abilities to join us at our world-class facilities on Hudson Farm. Open to the public 7 days a week all year round, we can provide both private instruction and group lessons for up to 4 people. Our shooting academy teaches shotgun, rifle, handgun, archery and fly fishing.

Shotgun

Learn the basics or hone your skills at one of the most sought-after sporting clay venues available anywhere. Facilities range from our 20-station sporting clay course to our trap, five stand, flurry, driven pheasant and grouse fields. We also have covered and heated instructional houses for all-season shooting, allowing you to stay dry and warm during cold wet winter days.

Rifle

We offer a range of lessons, from complete beginner to safari or big game preparation. Shoot custom-built big game animal targets with life-size vital zones, practice your long-distance shots on the longest rifle range in New Jersey at 900 yards, prepare for driven game shoots such as moving boar with our 150 ft lateral dual moving target, or train across our three excursion courses for your next hunt.

Handgun

All lessons are tailored to the individual, so you dictate the focus of the class: from the basics of handgun functionality and gun safety to marksmanship and ballistics, or our new permit-to-carry classes. Our four outdoor ranges feature a selection of state-of-the-art MGM steel targets, with distances from 15 to 55 yards.

Archery

Our Archery department offers lessons, custom bow setups and tuning. Our practice station provides target presentations from 10 to 40 yards, and our 12-station course is designed to mimic natural habitat scenarios, from shooting seated from a brushed-in ground blind to shooting elevated & navigating obstacles.

Fly Fishing

Our fly fishing instructors primarily teach beginners the basics of fly fishing. Lessons start with a demonstration on how to assemble and rig a fly rod, and a description of the purpose of the rod, reel, line and leader and fly. This is followed by learning the motions of how to cast on a grass field, then taking these skills to one of our ponds to cast with flies.

Gun Fits

Our completely adjustable try-gun allows us to dial in the perfect fit when you’re shooting at patterning plates and targets on our sporting clay course. We can then give you a complete set of individual measurements, which our gunsmiths can use to custom-fit your gun and even handcraft a new stock with your choice of stock blank, recoil pad and personalized oval.

We also carry a selection of pre-owned firearms, a range of compound bows and crossbows, fly fishing equipment, clothing, accessories, cleaning equipment, hunting dog training supplies and more.

Sell, Trade & Consign
If selling your firearms, we offer the option of using our consignment services or, depending on the value and condition of your firearms, we may also purchase them directly from you. We also accept firearms as trade-in value towards the purchase of another firearm in our inventory.

Import/Export
We offer extensive Import and Export services for sporting rifles and shotguns, including international sales or purchases and temporary export arrangements for repairs, sport hunting and sport shooting. We guide you through all documentation and permits to ensure transactions and shipments go as smoothly as possible.

Transfers and Shipping

We accept firearm transfers for out-of-state purchases. If you privately sell your firearms to an out-of-state resident, we also offer shipping services and can ship to an out-of-state registered firearms dealer.

Outfitters
Our Showroom offers a range of the highest quality hunting and fishing clothing and accessories from brands such as Sitka, Danner, LaCrosse, RE Ranger, KÜHL, Wild Hare, and more. We can also outfit you for hunting trips around the world, from big game safari trips to driven bird shoots.

Firearm Storage
If you’re moving or temporarily relocating, taking a long vacation or are concerned about the safety of firearm storage in your home, we can help. Griffin & Howe possesses a state-of-the-art alarmed and climate-controlled storage facility for your firearms. We have the capacity to store individual guns as well as large collections, and optional servicing and cleaning packages can be included.

NJFW Licenses
Griffin & Howe has been a New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife Licensing Agent since 2012, issuing licenses, stamps and permits for hunting, fishing and trapping. We are also proud to partner with NJF&W to provide regular live-fire testing for the Hunter Education program at our Hudson Farm location.

Appraisals
Griffin & Howe can perform on-site or off-site firearm appraisals for estate, insurance or current market valuations, and provide a binding document confirming the values of the firearms. Current market value appraisals can also be provided verbally at no cost. Firearms must be present for all appraisals and current market valuations.

Charity Events

Griffin & Howe is situated on the grounds of Hudson Farm, where the Hudson Farm Club regualrly hosts charity fundraisers from April through November. Most charity events are open to the public to sign up, so you can come and enjoy a round of sporting clays while raising money for a good cause!

GUNDOGS

We offer three age-dependent programs for gundog training; Puppy Starter (3 – 6 months), Started Gundog (6 – 12 months) and Advanced Gundog (dog has previous hunting experience).

Based in Northern New Jersey, our location is perfect for servicing a range of communities of hunters. We use positive reinforcement training to transform your puppy into the ideal home and hunting companion.
