This U.S. model 1903 rifle was manufactured by Rock Island Arsenal in 1914, SN:144229. This puts the rifle in the “low serial number” range, however the bolt installed in the rifle appears to be a much later replacement and the bottom metal is the stamped variety, leading me to believe that this rifle was arsenal re worked and re issued during WW2. Overall the condition is good, with only minor finish loss on the receiver and a very good bore. The stock shows the usual wear with no visible cracks and clearly stamped cartouche marks.
