The Kitteridge marked Wesson carbine was one of the very first breech loading metallic cartridge rifles and was a popular firearm used on both sides of the American Civil War. This example is in surprisingly good condition for its age, with no active corrosion and still showing some original blue with the rest fading to a plumb brown. The action appears to have proper function and the bore still shows strong rifling with only minor signs of corrosion.
