The Moore’s Patent Firearms Single Action Belt Revolver, commonly known as the Moore’s Patent Seven Shooter, was one of the earliest successful American cartridge revolvers. Patented by Daniel Moore in 1860 and chambered in .32 Rimfire, it featured an innovative seven-shot cylinder and a unique side-pivoting design that allowed the revolver to be loaded and unloaded without disassembly.
Produced in Brooklyn, New York, during the opening years of the Civil War, the Moore Seven Shooter was a popular privately purchased sidearm among soldiers and civilians alike. Its production was relatively short-lived after Smith & Wesson successfully challenged Moore over the Rollin White bored-through cylinder patent, making surviving examples both scarce and historically significant. Today, the Moore Seven Shooter is recognized as an important milestone in the development of American metallic-cartridge revolvers and a desirable Civil War-era collectible. Firearm is missing the removable ejector rod from under the barrel.
