The Browning Auto 5 was the first commercially successful, mass produced, semi automatic shotgun. It was designed by John Moses Browning in 1898 and patented in 1900, making it continuously produced in one form or another for almost 100 years. This example was manufactured in Belgium on the year 1929 making it 95 years old as of 2024. For its age this shotgun is in very good condition, and seems to have good mechanical function. However 95 years of continuous use and oil has taken its toll on the stocks. The buttstock is still tight and has no cracks, only cosmetic damage, but the forend has multiple cracks and has made itself somewhat loose. The metal condition as stated earlier is quite good, with only moderate cosmetic wear. The barrel, although in good condition has had its choke replaced with a Polychoke Deluxe.
