The BSA No. 1 Mk III chambered in .303 British is one of the most recognizable military rifles of the First World War era. Manufactured by the Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA), the SMLE (Short Magazine Lee-Enfield) No. 1 Mk III became the standard service rifle of the British Empire and earned a reputation for reliability, smooth bolt operation, and rapid fire capability. Its service history spans both World Wars and numerous conflicts throughout the Commonwealth, making it a highly collectible piece of military firearms history.
This pre-owned example remains in fair overall condition. The receiver and metal components show finish wear along with scattered pitting consistent with age and military service use. The wood stock is also in fair condition, exhibiting finish wear, scratches, dents, and handling marks consistent with heavy use over its lifetime. Despite the exterior wear, the bore is in good condition with clean rifling that remains well defined.
