Matched pair of 12 bore Purdey self-opening sidelock ejector game guns with extra barrel sets built. All barrels are Superior proved for modern ammunition and steel shot. Chambered 2 3/4″, barrels (1/A) are 26″ chopper lump, choked SK1 & SK2 with smooth concave game rib and steel game bead. Barrels (2/B) are 28″ with 2 3/4″ chambers choked Mod and Full with smooth, concave game rib and steel game bead. Rib near breach face engraved “1” and “2” respectively. “J PURDEY & SONS engraved on left barrels and “AUDLEY HOUSE SOUTH AUDLEY STREET LONDON ENGLAND”.
Coin finished action bodies with bold foliate scroll work by American engraver Michael Dubber. Underside of actions are engraved “J PURDEY & SONS” in banner. Engraved top levers with left side checkered thumb pieces. Gold inlaid “SAFE” above checkered safety catches on top tangs. Double triggers, gold-line cocking indicators, disk-set strikers and automatic safeties. Deluxe, highly figured Turkish walnut, straight stocks with drop points, engraved gold ovals, and extended tangs. Splinter forends with Anson-style pushrods, engraved escutcheons, and engraved diamond escutcheons in center of forends. Length of pull 14 1/2″ to engraved skeleton buttplates. Each pair presented in maker’s oak and leather presentation cases with brass corners and canvas covers.
