The Springfield Model 1903 was the standard U.S. military rifle from the early 1900s through World War I and remained in service through World War II. After military service, many surplus rifles were sporterized for hunting use, with military features removed and the rifles refinished into practical sporting arms.
This Springfield 1903 Sporter chambered in .30-06 is in overall good condition. The rifle was restocked and reblued when sporterized. The receiver and metal components retain strong bluing throughout with only light wear and a few small scratches. The barrel has a nice external finish with minor handling marks, and the bore is in good condition with strong rifling. The stock is in good condition overall, showing only light handling marks throughout and wear at the front of the schnabel fore-end. The rifle is equipped with a Leupold scope mounted in a quick-detach mount and also retains a Lyman rear sight, allowing the rifle to be used with either the optic or iron sights. Overall, this is a clean, well-executed sporterized 1903 that would make a practical hunting rifle and a solid example of a classic American sporting conversion.
