The Ruger No. 1, first made in 1967, is a sturdy falling block rifle with a Farquharson-style hammerless action. This example has a custom stock and barrel installed. The barrel marked “CR DOUCLAS .223 REM (XX)” is in excellent condition with almost no signs of wear. The stocks are a custom set of walnut stocks with beavertail forend and red pad, there are hairline cracks at the rear of the tangs. On top of the barrel is mounted a Schmidt & Bender 8×56 scope, making this an excellent all around varmint rifle.
