This Holland & Holland Royal SLE was manufactured in 1937, originally with 29″ barrels choked ¼ and ¼ with 2 ½” chambers, nitro proofed for 1 1/8 oz loads. This barrel was subsequently let out to 2 ¾ chambers and never re proofed, wall thickness .021″ Right and .028″ Left. In 1986 this shotgun was fitted with new 28″ barrels choked ¼ and 1/2 , this barrel still has its 2 ¾” chambers and is nitro proofed to 3 ½ tons, wall thickness .032″ Right and .034″ Left. Overall condition on this fine firearm is very good, although on the 28″ barrel set the left barrel shows more external wear than the left barre and the 29″ barrel shows more external wear on the right barrel, I assume this to be because they faced the top of its oak and leather case. The highly engraved action sits atop a handsome set of walnut stocks, both are in wonderful condition with no major flaws of note. The action itself is fitted with a wonderfully smooth assisted opening system for both barrels and has crisp sears in its locks.
