The Sharps falling block rifle, originally designed as a cap fired paper cartridge rifle in 1848, became popularized in the American frontier as a big game rifle, shooting either heavy charge .45 cal cartridges like the .45-110 or even larger cartridges such as the .50-90 sharps. This type of rifle also saw great success in long range marksmanship competitions, thanks to the sturdiness of the action and the ability to be configured with advanced sights, triggers and heavy barrels. This Modern example has been configured with a 34″ .45-70 barrel and long range Creedmoor sights, making it a viable competitor in long range black powder competitions. Overall condition od this rifle is like new, as it appears to have never been fired.
