A Blunderbuss is the muzzle loading precursor to the modern shotgun, with a large gauge barrel and flared muzzle to ease in the loading of shot. This antique example appears to be of English make also looks to have been part the way through refinishing, as the upper jaw of the lock is missing and the underlug un the forward portion of the barrel has been detached and crudely glued as well as supplemented with a zip tie. The lock, however is still functional, so if more time is put in, this beast may breathe fire once again.
