The Colt Detective Special was based on the frame of the Police Positive Special, but used a greatly shortened barrel and a smaller grip. This example is one of the very rare “Royal” finished guns, made only as a custom order, sharing the same finish as the legendary Colt Python. Overall condition is very good to excellent, with only light wear and some oily buildup in the action, making the trigger pull stiff but not unpleasant. This pistol has also had a grip converter installed, making it very comfortable in the hand.
