Hunter Preparation Course

Saturday July 25th, 12pm – 4pm

This focused, hands-on course is designed to prepare hunters for real-world success in the field through an emphasis on hunting-specific marksmanship. Over the course of four hours, participants will refine their rifle setup, confirm zero, and strengthen their accuracy by applying the fundamentals of marksmanship in a hunting context. Training includes shooting from alternate positions, effective use of equipment such as sticks or packs, and engaging animal-shaped steel targets at realistic distances. Whether you’re new to hunting or sharpening your skills before the season, this course ensures both you and your rifle are accurate, confident, and field-ready.

Course Objectives

Participants will gain the skills and knowledge to:

• Confirm zero and drop data
• Apply the fundamentals of marksmanship (position, trigger control, breathing, follow-through) in a field context
• Build accuracy and consistency on both paper and steel targets
• Develop confidence shooting from real-world hunting positions using sticks, packs, or natural support
• Engage animal-shaped steel at practical hunting distances with an emphasis on ethical shot placement
• Leave the course with a proven rifle setup and the skills to make clean, confident shots in the field

Requirements

• Rifle suitable for medium to large game hunting (bolt-action or semi-auto)
• Quality optic capable of engagements out to 500 yards
• Rifle and optic must be sighted in prior to course (we will allow time to confirm zero)
• Minimum 60 rounds of quality factory hunting ammunition
• Weather-appropriate clothing, boots, sun protection
• Note-taking gear
• Electronic hearing protection recommended
• Must have a basic understanding of firearm safety, be comfortable with rifle handling and be familiar with equipment

$360 per person (plus applicable NJ sales tax). Lunch is included. Must be 18 or over to attend.

Dress code: no t-shirts, blue jeans or open-toed shoes please.

Cancellation Policy: Must contact us to cancel 10 days prior to class to receive full refund, or 72 hours prior to class to receive a 50% refund (minus credit card processing fees and applicable NJ sales tax). Any cancellations made less than 72 hours before the class date cannot be refunded.
