J. VENABLES BOXLOCK 12 GAUGE

J. Venables & Son was an old English gun making firm operating out of Oxford from roughly 1832 until roughly the 1980’s, they made guns in the traditional English stylings and were known to be of very good quality. This example of one of their BLE’s is in very good condition, looking to be well maintained by the previous owners. The barrels have been re sleeved and reproofed, and as the stock finish doesn’t appear to match the forend, the stock would appear to be a replacement as well. All of the work done appears to be of high quality, with excellent fit and finish, though storage has allowed some fine “sugar rust” to form across the barrels, though it is mostly noticeable with a coat of oil.
