MAUSER 98 8MM

This Mauser rifle started its life as a Wartime production Kar 98K rifle from the BYF factory. Overall build quality was good on these rifles and the barrel on this one appears to be in good shape with little wear. after the war this rifle was converted into a full stocked hunting rifle, with an 18.5″ barrel in the original 8×57 cartridge. Overall the conversion was done quite well with tidy gunsmithing work. However, it must be noted that none of the original parts remain and in order to adjust headspace to within spec, the original gunsmith welded the faces of the bolt lugs, again it appears to be tidy work, but this is not a suggested remedy and should be thoroughly inspected by a gunsmith before use.
