The Joslyn rifle was developed as a breech loading percussion rifle shortly before the civil war, but as the war started it had been redesigned to use rimfire cartridges with a rotating breech. This example, SN# 310 was likely used by a Unit From Ohio, and is in good mechanical condition, however time has taken its toll on the metal finish and bore. The bore shows mild pitting, though the rifling can still be seen down its whole length. The stock is in surprisingly good condition, with no apparent cracks and a number of cartouches still visible.
