The M1911 pistol was the first semi automatic pistol adopted by the U.S. Army and subsequent branches, with the M1911A1 being the improved version developed shortly before the second world war. This example produced by Remington Rand in 1944 appears to be in unissued condition and has practically no wear externally. The only wear of note is some minor pitting inside the bore in front of the chamber.
