The Winchester 1892 is in effect a shrunk down version of the model 1886, its dual locking blocks make it especially strong and modern versions can handle even the most powerful handgun cartridges. This example is a very early takedown model, manufactured in 1894. Overall condition is fair to good, all of the metal parts have been re finished using what appears to either be a very thick hot dipped blue or some kind of gloss black spray on finish. The wood quality does not match, with the stock being a higher grade than the forend and both have been refinished as well. The bore is unmolested from the original rifle and shows present rifling with moderate pitting. Mechanical condition of this rifle appears sound, but the re finishing of this rifle appears to mostly be for display and not use.
