HOLLAND & HOLLAND ROYAL 2 BARREL SET 16 GAUGE

The Holland & Holland Royal is the quintessential English “Best” gun, with almost every aspect of its manufacture being bespoke. The design of the Royal is recognizable to the point that aspects of it are often copied by other makers. This 2 barrel set, much like the others of its kind, was crafted bespoke for its owner, and as such has somewhat unusual dimensions. The dimensions that have specifically found unusual is the cast, the gun nominally has 3/16″ of Cast OFF, however the toe is slightly Cast ON, this can either be from a very peculiar fit, or the shotgun has been modified by a past owner. Overall, this shotgun is beautiful, fitted with a set of finely figured stocks, and having a receiver covered with hand cut acanthus engravings. The condition, likewise is excellent, with only minor wear and some stubborn congealed oil in the engravings. One point that lays credence to the possibility of stock modification is that the buttstock has been refinished, though this may have been done after the oval was changed.
