The Colt model 1851 “Navy” was a far lighter option when compared to the then contemporary Dragoon model revolvers, making it an attractive sidearm. This particular pistol was built in 1971 as a commemorative pistol for President Ulysses S. Grant and is accompanied by a letter addressed to the previous owner, by the Colt Firearms Division, stating that this exact firearm had been originally made for Admiral Zumwalt who had never been able to accept the firearm due to scheduling conflicts. The overall condition is immaculate, looking to have never been taken out of its original plastic wrapping.
