The Colt Police Positive is an improved version of the earlier “New Police” model, which included improvements such as the new “Positive lock” internal hammer safety. The overall condition of this example is what we would call “serviceable”, internally there is no problems with this pistol, the bore is near perfect, the lockwork is clean, and the timing is good. However externally there is lots of finish loss, moderate pitting and the ejector rod is missing its tip. Interestingly, this pistol is marked with a police property number, specifically Y.P.D No. 31, it is unclear if this would mean York P.D or Yonkers P.D.
