RIGBY RISING BITE 10 GAUGE

The Rigby Rising Bite action has long been renowned for its strength and excellence in design, having been used in both shotguns and their exceptional double rifles. This shotgun is made even more interesting by the fact that it is not only of the rising bite design, but also made with the so called “Snap Action” underlever, which both unlocks the breech and resets the hammer’s with the same movement to save effort on opening the barrels. This example of a somewhat earlier Rising Bite, made in the 1880’s before the adoption of nitro powder, is in excellent overall condition, being very well taken care of. The stocks are of an exceptional grade of walnut and show only slight wear from over a century of use and a faint crack forming behind the left lock. The barrels still shine brightly and have only a few faint scratches and nicks to show their age. Though the chokes measure to be quite open, it is reamed for Jug style chokes, making it pattern quite well. it must be noted again that this shotgun was made before the adoption of nitro powders and has not been re proofed for nitro.
