The Savage model 95 and subsequent model 99 were the first hammerless lever action rifles and the addition of the rotary magazine allowed them to use the new spitzer design bullets. This Example is a takedown model made in 1919. Overall condition is very good with moderate wear and a clean bore. Unfortunately the receiver was drilled and tapped to mount a Weaver K4-1 scope and it would appear that either the front mounting screws impinge upon the barrel or it is quite thoroughly torqued in place, as the barrel cannot be removed by hand.
