The Smith & Wesson Model 1917 D.A. .45, was developed to supplement the then new M1911 service pistol, and was chambered for the same .45 Auto cartridge, however necessitating moon clips to eject properly. This example is one of the original military models, made in 1918 according to my sources, however all of the US property markings have been removed, aside from the flaming bomb. After the property markings were scrubbed, the pistol was re finished with a durable nickel finish, which has held up quite well aside from some flakes on the cylinder.
